Vicki Herbig
Vicki is the founder and creative mind behind Exploration Studio. She brings over 35 years of experience at local YMCA’s where she developed innovative, enriching and fun classes and programs for children and adults. Her YMCA experience and love of Clark (she is a lifelong resident!) inspired her to establish Exploration Studio to provide the community with creative and educational classes for all ages. Vicki holds a B.A. in Physical Education and Health from Kean University and has served on numerous YMCA Program Committees at the local and national level. She has been volunteering her time at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark as Girls Gymnastics Team Assistant Coach since 2008.

Alyssa Resnick
Alyssa, a recent graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelors Degree in Science specializing in nutrition. With her knowledge of nutrition, she will bring many healthy options to participants in her classes. Alyssa has been involved with the YMCA camps such as mini triathlon camp and healthy eating nutrition classes. She interned with RD Heidi Skolnik and assisted her in meal planning and projects with the Knicks, Broadway, and Julliard School of Performing Arts. She plans on attending graduate school at Rutgers to receive her MS and become a Registered Dietician. She is very excited to join our staff and to be teaching students many of the fun things she has planned.

Carmela Resnick
Carmela Resnick is a graduate of Montclair State University with a teaching degree in Home Economics. She worked for 20 years in the home sewing industry in NYC. She has had extensive experience working with children of all ages through her volunteer work as a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, PTA committee member and REP theatre parent. Carmela has studied various mediums of art for 15 years and currently continues to paint, exhibit and sell her art work as well as give sewing instructions to adults and children of all ages.

Christina Robel
Christina Robel is a certified group fitness instructor. She is currently teaching adult and children’s group fitness classes. Christina is passionate about getting kids ages 2 – 16 up and moving by using today’s newest music and moves to motivate them. She works with toddlers and mothers to create a special world of wonder and imagination and helps to establish a special bond between friends in weekly groups. Christina also enjoys crafting and specializes in scrapbooking, decoupage, hand painting letters, wine glasses and various objects. Christina could very well be one of your fairy princess or spa party organizers. She has a BA from Kean University in Education K – 5 with a History major.

 

Gina Pelosi
Gina Pelosi is a recent graduate of Rowan University where she earned her BA with a double majored in Elementary Education and Mathematics. She is currently teaching first grade in Colonia. She has many years’ experience working with children through babysitting, working at a day care and tutoring. She is extremely energetic and enthused about working with the participants at The Exploration Studio!

Irene Laki
Irene attended Seton Hall University and majored in Business, with a minor in Marketing, and Interior Decorating. She has been a group exercise instructor since 1999 and became a personal trainer in 2006. Irene has several certifications including Pilates, Pilates Reformer, Stability Ball, BOSU, Kettleball, Cycling and YogaFit training level one. She is currently working with cancer patients to promote a healthy lifestyle. She has taught youth sports, girls’ fitness classes and youth running class and was a Pre-school gym teacher.

Sandra Cerchio
Sandra Cerchio started as a self – taught portrait artist working in graphic and pastel. Her background profession in architectural and engineering drafting gives her a technical precision while maintaining grace and originality. Always looking for new challenges, Sandra studied oils at a private studio in Jersey City. She continued her studies at Saint Peter’s College under the Director of the Fine Arts Department, Oscar Magnan. Sandra has taught as an ad-hoc teacher n the local community schools. Today, she teaches semi-private art classes to both children and adults.
